Mutualink is an IP-based overlay network, designed to combine the use of existing radio equipment as well as advanced next-generation communication technology. Public Safety agencies using Mutualink can maintain full control of their radio resources, while making them available for interconnection at the click of a mouse. Mutualink is an “always on” system; it is available around the clock. Mutualink blends IP and traditional radio networking technology with application software designed specifically to solve interoperability problems while delivering a solution that is affordable to everyone. Mutualink is highly scalable supporting intra- and interagency interoperability scenarios across multiple disciplines and jurisdictions.
Commoca Inc. is responsible for creating a Network Monitoring and Management Console (NMMC) for a custom Mutualink system. The NMMC allows for Fault and Alarm management, Configuration of devices, Performance Monitoring, and Security Management for the Mutualink devices. Also create a directory service solution for Mutualink devices. The NMS Server is installed on a desktop or rackmount PC. Note that the NMS application may not be running at all times as it is truly only necessary when an administrator wants to configure or monitor a domain.
The NMS software application main functions are:
- Configure the endpoints in its domain
- Update the software of endpoints in its domain
- Monitor the endpoints in its domain (performance metrics, fault conditions, security breaches, etc)
- Manage endpoint software licenses
